Arturo Ballesteros, a senior at Back of the Yards College Prep, recently found out that he was admitted to the University of Chicago's College. The son of immigrants from Mexico, and the first in his family to attend college, Ballesteros plans to teach at a high school similar to his own and work with students of color form low-income families. For nearly the duration of high school, Ballestero was part of UChicago's Collegiate Scholars Program, and will now have the opportunity to attend the institution on a full-ride scholarship.
