Teniola Ajagbe, a student at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep and participant in the University of Chicago's Space Explorers program, appeared on Fox32 Chicago in January alongside Ann Merrell, Director of College and Career Readiness Programs in UChicago's Office of Civic Engagement. Ajagbe shared her longtime aspiration to study space exploration, news of her recent scholarship to Northwestern University, and how participating in the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics-led Space Explorers program confirmed she was on the right track and boosted her confidence about heading to college as a first-generation student.
The deadline for applying to the Space Explorers program, as well as UChicago's Collegiate Scholars Program, has been extended to Feb. 14, 2025. Chicago public high school students can learn more and apply at ccreadiness.uchicago.edu.
